Workshops and briefings

Read information that has been shared at Council workshops and briefings from 2022-2025.

We have streamlined the way we do things with workshops in 2026, and now all available workshop information (including the workshop material/agenda) is available in our meetings calendar alongside all our other meetings and agendas. You can see them here(external link) - simply click on the workshop you would like to see the material for, and you can then open the workshop material in a PDF format. Previous year's workshop material is still available below.

Going forward, you will be able to access workshop agendas and minutes here.(external link)

A workshop is an opportunity for elected members to discuss upcoming matters and provide guidance to staff.

A briefing (or briefing paper) is an opportunity for staff to present information to elected members on upcoming or important matters.

Council workshops are open to the public, unless notified as confidential

It is important to note that:

  • workshops and briefings are not meetings under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA). The chairperson of the relevant committee or workshop/briefing organisers decide how they will be conducted; and
  • no decisions are made at workshops or briefings; and
  • nothing discussed at a workshop or briefing becomes Council policy unless, and until, a decision is made at a formal meeting.

Workshops or briefings are included in our Meetings Calendar
