Unfortunately there have been electrical malfunctions at the Tapawera water treatment plant meaning that it is unlikely that it will be able to resume producing water today.
We are now supplying the town only from the reservoir and there is a maximum of approximately 20-24 hours of storage remaining at current demand levels.
We therefore request that all customers on the Tapawera water supply reduce water consumption wherever possible until further notice so that we can continue to supply the town with water for as long as possible.
It is also critical that we are able to retain sufficient volumes in the event water is needed for firefighting.
