Tasman District Council gives notice, under sections 16, 119 and 120 of the Reserves Act 1977, that it proposes to classify a number of existing Council‑managed reserves in the Golden Bay Ward.
What is proposed
Council manages a number of land parcels in Golden Bay Ward that are used as reserves but have not previously been formally classified under the Reserves Act 1977.
Council proposes to classify 171 land parcels as one of the following reserve types under the Act:
- Scenic Reserve
- Historic Reserve
- Recreation Reserve
- Local Purpose Reserve (of various types)
Reserve classification assigns a legal purpose to each reserve and helps guide how it is managed over time. In most cases, classification is an administrative process and is not expected to change how reserves are currently used day to day.
